Jennifer Beals (Chicago, 19 de diciembre de 1963) es una actriz norteamericana.

Hija de padre afroamericano y madre irlandesa, Beals fue modelo en su adolescencia. Estudió literatura inglesa en la Universidad de Yale. La actriz es sobre todo conocida por su papel de Alex Owens en la película Flashdance de 1983.

Su carrera se vio afectada por un escándalo tras el estreno de la película ya que se descubrió que algunas de las escenas que requerían movimientos atléticos las había interpretado estando dopada.

Desde entonces, Beals ha intervenido en películas poco conocidas o en filmes independientes. Jennifer Beals ha intervenido en más o menos 50 películas. La actriz es íntima amiga del director Quentin Tarantino que le ofreció un papel en su película Four Rooms (1995).

Beals estuvo casada con el director de cine independiente Alexandre Rockwell entre 1986 y 1996. En 1998 se casó con Ken Dixon.

En Enero del 2004 comenzó a actuar como Bette Porter en la serie The L Word junto a Laurel Holloman, Pam Grier, Leisha Hailey, Mia Kirshner, Erin Daniels y Katherine Moennig, entre otras. Esta serie la ha devuelto a la notoriedad en la TV.
